Nylon/Poly Brush (Latex Paint):
- Immediate Rinse: Scrape excess paint back into the can. Rinse under warm running water immediately—do not let paint dry.
- Deep Clean: Work a mild dish soap (Dawn, etc.) into the bristles at the ferrule. Use a brush comb or wire brush to pull paint solids from the heel (base) outward. Rinse until water runs perfectly clear.
- Spin Dry: Spin vigorously in a bucket or spinner to remove water from the ferrule reservoir.
- Shape & Store: Shape bristles to a chisel tip. Hang vertically (bristles down) or lay flat. Never store on bristles. Use the original cardboard sleeve/keeper to maintain shape.
Roller Cover (Latex Paint):
- Scrape First: Use a 5-in-1 tool’s curved edge to scrape maximum paint back into the can. This cuts cleaning time by 50%.
- Rinse & Roll: Rinse under warm water while spinning the cover on the frame. Roll against the bucket grid or a clean wall to flush the core.
- Soap Wash: Work dish soap into the nap. Rinse until water runs clear. No fabric softener—it ruins paint adhesion next use.
- Spin Dry: Spin in a 5-gal bucket or dedicated spinner until no water flies off.
- Store: Stand on end (core vertical) to dry completely. Do not stack wet covers. Once bone dry, slide into a plastic bag or original sleeve to keep dust off.
Pro Tip: If stopping <4 hrs, wrap brush/roller tight in plastic wrap or a zip-bag (air pressed out) and refrigerate. Skip cleaning. Over 4 hrs? Clean fully.
